Coral Gables' first coffee house, Café Demetrio, offers the coffee lover a pinnacle of class, taste, and returns to the original concept of the coffee house that once flourished in 18th Century European cafes: a meeting spot where poets, intellectuals, artists, and working citizens could spend an afternoon pondering the great questions of mankind. The owners, Demetrio and Vilma Pina, a husband and wife team, built the cafe on the original 1920's premises of Coral Gables' first newspaper. Patrons are invited to linger for a while in the patio to enjoy the South Florida weather, play a game of chess, or just sit and enjoy a quiet moment over a steaming capuccino.
